Airport Transfers

We organize private, direct Airport Transfers with our preferred Transfer company from R520.00 per transfer one way for 1 – 3 adults. Guests are met at the airport by the driver with a signboard and dropped off right at our door. Drivers can be paid direct. To book a transfer – please supply us with your exact flight details and times.

Breakfast:

Breakfast is upstairs from 8am till 10:30am. If you require an early breakfast – please let us know in advance so we can discuss options available to you. If you have an early flight, we can provide a packed breakfast to go, just let us know in advance please and we will leave it in the fridge for you.

Car Hire

Hired cars can be collected at the Airport, in the City or delivered direct to the guesthouse at a delivery fee. Please contact us for Car Hire Company referrals. Book ahead in our peak Summer season (October to March). We suggest taking the Comprehensive insurance to minimise any excess. Local car hire companies do not all allow their vehicles to be dropped off outside the greater Cape Town area – i.e. the Garden Route, Durban.

Tour companies will collect you at our front door and bring you back here in the evening. We can arrange both personalised or organised tours and excursions in and around town.

Check In and Out Times…

Check into rooms from 2pm onwards – Guests are welcome to come by earlier to drop off luggage. Check out by 11h00 am on morning of departure – Guests are welcome to leave luggage here till later. Please let us know of any early departure or late arrival beforehand.

Children:

Children are accommodated by discretion – please specify their age when enquiring. Please note – we have an unprotected swimming pool and a high balcony and accept no liability. A camp cot can be supplied for babies.

Red Route – City Tour:
Circular route of Cape Town and surrounds including Waterfront, Clock Tower, CTICC, Gold Museum, St Georges Cathedral, Green Market Square, Company Gardens, SA Museum, Jewish Museum, District Six Museum, The Castle, Mount Nelson, Table Mountain Cableway, Camps Bay Beach, Sea Point Promenade.

City Tours:
Tour of the central Cape Town CBD ,Museums, Table Mountain, The Company Gardens, Castle of Good Hope, Green Market Square flea market and other interesting and historic city areas.

Winelands Tours: 
Full or half day tours to wine farms, cheese factories etc. Beautiful old wine estates. Opportunity to buy excellent priced wines

Cape Point and the Peninsula Tour:
Down to Cape Point and all the wonderful sea-side towns on the way, Boulders Beach with the penguin colony too. Very scenic !!

Township Tours:
Visitors are taken into a safe township to view everyday life, arts and crafts as well as community projects. Visit to Bo-Kaap, District Six Museum and Robben Island. Very interesting !!

Communications:

Our country code is 0027 When calling overseas, please dial 00 and your country code. Eg: Germany dial 0049, Austria 0043, Switzerland 0041, England 0044. Our mobile phone networks in South Africa offer great coverage and are inexpensive. Local sim cards are recommended available from R15.00 to R150.00 at many stores.

Currency:

Few places take foreign currency. Foreign currency can be exchanged easily at the airport upon arrival or at any Foreign Exchange. International Credit Cards (Visa and Mastercard) are accepted all over. ATM’s are plentiful and cash is needed for taxis, tipping, street vendors and small purchases.

Electricity:

In South Africa electrical outlets are 220 Volt. We supply international conversion plug adaptors if needed.

FREE WIFI:

Enjoy our free wifi throughout the house.

Gym:

There is a Virgin Active Gym just down the road.

Hairdryers:

There are hairdryers in all the rooms.

Heating & Cooling:

Our rooms have wall panel heaters and are all airconditioned – some with fans too. Please switch off aircons when you leave your room.

Honesty Bar:

We have communal Bar fridge downstairs stocked with wine, beers, ciders, soft drinks, mineral water and snacks. Just help yourselves and note your purchases in our Honesty Bar Book to add to your final bill on check out

Housekeeping Tips:

Tipping is by no means compulsory – but always welcome and much appreciated. We have three lovely ladies who work shifts and there is a Tip Jar in the lounge.

International Plug Adaptors:

We can supply international plug adaptors for your use

Laundry:

We offer a laundry service at an extra charge and need a day or so to get it back to you.

Medical:

We have access to good doctors, dentists and hospitals if needed.

Non-Smoking House:

We are a non-smoking guest house. Guests may smoke on the outdoor patio area and we provide ashtrays

Parking:

Parking is available on street outside our house and in two garages, which are first come first serve on the day (no reservations). Please do not leave anything in your car to eliminate any opportunistic crime. We have a night watchman on duty too.

Seasons:

High Season – Summer time and our main tourist season is from October to April. Green Season – winter time from May to September – specials offered during this time and good weather can be still be expected.

Security:

Please always lock the main doors and security gates when coming in or leaving for the day or night. Please also make sure the garage doors are closed when you drive in or out.

Taxis

Reliable and inexpensive – We make us of professional local companies who offer great service and run on a metered charge.
To and from the Waterfront it is about R50.00 to R80.00
To the City about R40.00 to R60.00
To Table Mountain approximately R80.00 to R120.00
We gladly call taxis for our guests and supply contact numbers and a good map.
UBER is also a good option if you have the app

The Environment:

We do our best to be environmentally conscious – we are experiencing a serious water shortage in the Western Cape at this time. We also conserve electricity and water with a 7 day no change sheets policy and we recycle all paper, plastic and tin.

Time Zones:

Time in the European summer time is the same as in South Africa. During European winter months South Africa is one hour ahead of European standard time.
The USA and Australia are approximately 8 hours behind us.

Tipping in General:

Tipping is voluntary but expected for most services. Waiters are tipped around 15% of the total bill. Maids and household helpers are tipped depending upon service and length of stay. We recommend to not tip using foreign currency notes – as we have strict regulations to change Forex and it’s not easy with small amounts

Traffic:

Roads and infrastructure are good in South Africa. Cars drive on the left hand side. An International Driver’s Licence is required by car hire companies.

TV:

Our TVs in the rooms have 5 channels. Please let us know if of them are not tuned in properly.

Vaccinations:

No Malaria-Prophylaxes needed for Cape Town or the Garden Route.

Visas:

Most European Nationals do not need a visa. A valid passport for 6 months after entry in necessary. Check with your SA Consulate.
